Description:
So what
are Fan Films?:
A fan film is a film or video inspired by a movie, television show,
comic book or a similar source, created by fans rather than by the
source's copyright holders or creators. Fan filmakers have
traditionally been amateurs, but some of the more notable films have
actually been produced by professional filmmakers as film school class
projects or as demonstration reels. Fan films vary tremendously in
length, from short faux-teaser trailers for non-existent motion
pictures to rarer full-length motion pictures.
[Fan

1. All contestants must be registered Fandemonium attendees.
2. A significant portion of your Fan Film must be original material.
3. Your Fan Film must be at least somewhat related to one or more of
the genres Fandemonium covers, such as Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Anime,
Animation, Indie, Horror, Role-Playing Games, Video Games, Asian
Cinema, Comics, Fandom itself, etc. We cover a lot of topics,
so
if you’re not sure if your Fan Film qualifies then just
e-mail us
and ask. We are always happy to answer questions.

don't even think about trying to win prizes off someone

hard work.

counting opening and ending credits.
6. You may submit films that are Live Action, Stop-Motion, Go-Motion,

& DVD -R/+R. We also except VHS, (but not S-VHS), however this

not preferred format as the play quality varies from deck to deck. If

please include any necessary Video and Audio Codec(s) requiered to play
it.
8. Fandemonium staff while not prohibited from entering this contest,
do not qualify to win awards in any category with the exception of
Fan-Favorite. This however does not apply to Fandemonium volunteer
staff who are permitted to enter this contest and qualify to win awards
in any category.
9. While you can still enter them in the contest, films with excessive
violence, gore, foul language, nudity or sexual situations may not be
shown during the contest. However they may be shown in an age

your film(s), by submitting them to Fandemonium's FanFilm Contest you
grant us a non-exclusive license to show them in whole or in part, and
to use them for the promotion of Fandemonium, FanFilms, and Fandom in
General.
13. You must label your disc/tape, please write your name and the name
of the submission on the label. Please also include a letter with your

ATTN: Fan Film Contest
308 South 1st Avenue West
Middleton, ID 83644
Your submission(s) must be postmarked no latter than July 20th 2007, we
will except submissions at the convention itself, but we really prefer
to receive them in advance as it makes it easier to judge them and make
sure they will play on our equipment.
14. Test your Fan Film. Look at it with a cynical eye on other
setups. If your final copy plays like a fifth gen VHS copy with
fadeouts, artifacting, jumpiness, excessive sound pops, sound wobbles,
audio that some equipment can't read, then please consider reworking it
before you submit it.
15.
These rules are subject to change. However, we will try to give you
ample notification if they do.
