and Gentlemen and Fans! Of all ages, welcome back to Fandemonium. As we
prepare for another exciting year of Fandom infused celebrations. I
know all has been quite on the western front for a couple months now,
and I wanted to apologize to you all for the site not getting quicker
updates. It’s been an extremely busy couple of months since Fan
’07. But that busy comes in form of all of us in the Fandemonium
crew working on new and mind blowing ways to make Fandemonium ’08
even better than ’07 was.
Before I tell you about some of the cool new things in store for
’08. I want to first take a moment to thank all of the awesome
guests of honor, who came from all over the northwest and even the east
coast and SW Canada to be with us and put on such an amazing show for
everyone.

Now I suppose I should tell you about some of the cool new things in the works for ’08 eh.
#1 The Boffer Grand Melee… It will return bigger and better than
ever. We have changed and added a few rules to make it work better. We
will now allow team combat, however outside boffer swords are now 100%
prohibited only Fandemonium ™ brand boffer swords will be
allowed. I know, I know I hear the chorus of “ahh but
that’s not fair”, well a few spoilsports went and ruined it
for everyone. We try extremely hard to make sure this event is both
safe and fun for everyone involved and to keep it that way we have to
make sure all boffer swords used fall within our safety specifications.
Waivers will still be required to participate but to make it easier on
minors who want to participate we will be putting the minor version of
the waiver online so that they can get it filled out by there parent or
legal guardian before they come to Fandemonium ’08.
#2 The Video Game Room… It will be returning to its Fan
’05 & Fan ’07 location right up front. But there will
be a few new additions that will make it even more awesome. We now have
several Japanese PS2’s that will be up and running import games
as well as several Gamecubes that will be running Japanese import
games. There will be even more Next-Gen Consoles. Retro-LAN is
returning bigger and better with more games than ever before. We have a
new stage tournament setup that will put more of the big
tourney’s center stage. Plus a few new surprises that are totally
top secret and will only be revealed at Fan ’08.
#3 A new Music Guest of Honor… This Arm is Gun a Mega Man Death
Metal Tribute band. Idaho’s first Video Game Tribute Band will be
performing at Fandemonium ’08 on the big stage. You can check out

#4 New Guest of Honor… Who are they, what have they done, what
will they be doing at Fandemonium ’08? Well, I’m not going
to tell you! <chuckle> Let’s just call it a surprise that
will be unleashed after the holiday season.
#5 The Return of the Video Booth in Artist Alley… It made a
brief appearance at Fandemonium ’06 playing some of the good
Doctor. Now it will return once again playing a host of the rare the
weird and the amazing items that fans and the world of Fandom have
created.
#6 Random Games will be back… Now with a ton of new games and a
large section of Artist Alley dedicated to it. But that’s not
all, the Prize Vault will be bigger and better than ever, we are
searching the four corners of the earth to fill it full of wicked
Fandom goodness for you to win. Plus we are working on a way to expand
the prize bucks system so that you can earn prize bucks by even doing
things like attending events and panels.
#7 New Events… We have some awesome new events in the works for
’08. Some are top secret Fandemonium ExperiMENTAL events that we
can’t tell you about just yet. But there are others that have
been in the works since before last years Fandemonium that we can tell
you about. We will finally have a full Karaoke setup at Fandemonium
’08, not some little karaoke machine but a custom built PC
hosting gigs and gigs of songs with the lyrics projected up onto the
screen on stage, and mic’s running into the main sound system.
This setup should allow for hours of on and off key fun. We have some
new Fan participation events in the works including some that will let
YOU decided which events get run at Fan ‘08.
#8 Extended sign-up times… for the Costume Contest, &
Cosplay Contest. There have been numerous Fan’s who are only able
to make it to Fandemonium for one day and want to participate in the
Costume Contest or Cosplay but sign-up times for contests like Cosplay
and the Costume Contest end on Friday night. Those deadlines have now
been extended to Saturday at Noon. In order to allow the maximum number
of fans to participate. There is also a new mandatory Pre-Costume
Contest & Cosplay meeting that all participants must attend, it
take place 1hr before the contest begins. This way you can be walked
through the event setup and basic how to information as well as be
informed on the safety tips and rules.
#9 There will be numerous new panels and workshops, and as was planned
last year but did not happen due to circumstance beyond our control we
will have the boffer sword making workshop. I will be running it and
there will be a $10 materials fee for the class and there will be
enough material for up to forty participants. Boffer swords made in the
class upon approval will be allowed for use in the Grand Boffer Sword
Melee on Sunday night, as all swords will be built to
Fandemonium’s safety specifications.
All this and so much more is coming in ’08 to a Fandemonium near
you. We will be holding it the first full weekend in August at the
Nampa Civic Center. It’s a wonderful location that has been our
home for the last three years, and has always done an incredible job.
We look forward to many more Fandemonium’s held there. And the
Days Inn will be our official hotel again for ’08 and as soon as
the New Year rolls around I will get the discount rate setup there and
posted on the website.
We will also be holding a few events and parties before Fandemonium so
keep checking the site for updates. We wish you and yours a great
November and December and hope to see you all there in August at
Idaho’s ultimate fan experience that has and always will be
“For the Fans, By the Fans!”.
